Prototyping next mechanics: crafting and cooking

I’ve been out for the last two months, mainly due to traveling, but I’m back on the game now! I took the advice of a fellow game dev, and prototyped the next mechanics (crafting and cooking) by making the most bareboned implementation.

It was really interesting to see and play the result, because it’s fairly clear to me that the game is still much too easy. Also, I dislike the hiking movement on the map.

This makes me think that the next steps should be:

1) Implement an energy / stamina counter to limit player actions

2) Make it so that players hike to the next potential camping spot, which would also limit the amount of foraging
